Last light in the Langdales - Cumbria

Thank you for your comments Mike and Dennis. The Lakes would not be the same without the Langdales! Thanks for sharing your story. Such experiences maketh the man!
Wow, Robert. Lost for words - except perhaps inspirational.

Beautiful

Beautiful pastel marks, energetic to show drama of those lovely hills and mountains. The colours are magnificent Robert.

Very dramatic work Robert and very good use of the pastel medium.

A stunning painting Robert....I know the Langdale very well and you have portrayed the beauty of the Langdlale Pikes in all their beauty. Love the textures of the rocks and tones you have conveyed in this.

Cooo.... excuse the infantile language, but it's just about all I can find to say: some pictures just leave you gaping at them wondering how the hell anyone is able to do anything like that....

This is amazing Robert, gorgeous. :)

Dramatic and striking Robert - excellent use of pastels

Outstanding Robert, I have been on mountains in many parts of the world but I still love the Langdales and have led many groups there, you have really done them justice with this work. The light in the foreground is great, but the colours and energy on the tops is just so typical of the days when you just never know what is going to come. A brilliant tribute to the Pikes.

Thanks for all your comments everyone. Much appreciated.

Anyone who wants to join me to enjoy painting similar views from my mountain treks and your favourite views, lines are now open for my Lakeland holidays for '15 and '16.
http://rdcreative.co.uk/art_holidays

I look forward to meeting and teaching you!

Tried to 'like' this, but 13 seems to be the limit? Lovely picture, anyway.

lovely free work - wish I could draw like that!

An exploration of light and dark hard and soft pastels to create this evening demonstration painting on a Summer painting break I tutored at Higham Hall in Cumbria. In that evening session most of the painting was completed. The trees in the lower right finished the painting to give everything scale. Pretty pleased with it. I was even more delighted when one of my students on the art break contacted me to buy it. A real honour. Student discount applied with a personal delivery added for the framed painting. Positive plus points all round for everyone.
