What's wrong with it Val, it's a good piece of work. The petals have solidity and depth, I like the touch of gold leaf in the centre of the flower but.....I hope you don't mind me saying.....I think it would look even better with just the plain black background. It sort of spoils the off-set composition of the flower, which is lovely. You're too hard on yourself Val X

Fiona, I don't mind you saying at all what you think, I agree with you. The version in oil that sold just had a plain background and I preferred it. Acrylics are just not for me LOL Yes Gudrun that would be the steam coming out my ears as I fight with acrylics :)

Well Val, it does not look as if you have struggled with this painting... It looks so vibrant and the touch of Gold gives a statement to your work! Acrylic is more difficult to tackle during the Summer. It dries too fast even with gel retarder. September is when it comes out of hibernation in my studio :D

I did an oil version of this a few years ago which sold and, whilst struggling for inspiration, and for some unknown reason, I decided to have a go in acrylic. I should have known better :) I've never got on with acrylic and lost my temper a few times with this so they are now packed away for a good while until I lose my marbles again and dig them out. I added some gold leaf to this to try and improve it. Thanks for taking a peak.
