Glorious blooms val.....full of passion. Beautiful depth in the petals and the highllights are perfect. May I ask which red you used, if it isn't a trade secret?

Oh these are glorious blooms, Val. I love the light you have achieved on the petals...something I find difficult to do.

Great roses Val, great colour too!

Super roses Val, I can almost smell them!

First class, just love the tonal depth and high light, never painted flowers before, see this work I am going to have to give it a try, good challenge.

Thank you Fiona, Ruth,Carole,Debs and Peter for your very kind comments. Fiona the colours I used were W&N Permanent Rose, Daniel Smith Bordeaux and then a touch of Daniel Smith Indigo in the Bordeaux for the very dark bits. They really do smell nice, pity I can't do a "scratch and sniff" painting LOL

I agree with all of the above. The variations on the leaves are also excellent.

It's all been said, Val. I feel I could pick these off the page and enjoy their scent. They are truly stunning.

Beautiful red roses and you can't beat the old fashioned ones for scent either :)

Beautiful painting, red roses are difficult and you have perfected them beautiully, lovely depth of colour

I agree with everyone, beautiful roses Val

Many thanks Pat,Jane,Sarah,Glennis and Petra for your kind comments and encouragement.

Val, ref the paper, I've left a reply under your comment on ' Another practise' but I've just tried to put the diary shop into ebay and it doesn't come up. However, if you put hand made leather journal in it will bring up a choice, find the one with the diary shop as the seller, cick on the online shop and it comes up with their full range.

Classically beautiful, Val!

Thanks Seok I really appreciate you taking the time to comment so kindly.
