Hi Val, i've missed alot of your pastel postings, i can see that you are a whizz with them.... i love colourfix paper but even when using it with soft pastels i seem to lay on too much colour so that when held up vertically most of the picture falls off. I can't wait until you get some oil pastels to see what you make of them. I forgot to mention before that if you want to get some practice pastels the pentel 50 set is really good as far as a student range goes... they are nice and soft but not as opaque as the artist oil pastels but they are streets ahead of the other hard and crumbly student brands and great for practising and sketching... the 50 set is available on http://www.pencils4artists.co.uk/index.php?cat=Pentel_Oil_Pastels for £8 inc UK shipping and there is a 12 set on ebay for 99p plus 95p p&p

I like this very much Val, and your fruit has me green with envy. You have handled the leaves very very well, and I think the only two tulips which might be lacking a little form are the yellow ones? The others seem fine. Interesting to know you are thinking of oil pastels, let us know how you get on, will you, if and when you do some work with them.

Another lovely pastel painting, marvellous vivid colour. I have one in my gallery of a similar subject and I found these flowers more difficult to capture than I thought I would, -yours look very convincing.

Very pleased to see your additions to your gallery Val. This happy colourful bright stylish artwork ticks all the boxes...and the fruit? a technical master-class. Love what I see.

I like this. Colours and shapes so lively,

Cheerful and bright, just what we need. Your glass vase is excellent.

I love the bright cheerful colours they give you a lift!!

Love it - so colourful. Expertly done. Love the folds in the cloth. Gorgeous apple and orange. What more can I say! PS have had awful computer trouble amongst other things. Is Steve talking about pastel pencils - the pentel set?

Thank you everyone for taking the time to look and comment. You are right Ruth it was the yellow ones I had trouble with, have the same trouble with daffodils!. Jeannette, Steve is talking about the cheaper student quality oil pastels which he says are quite cheap but good for praticing with.

Another one that was slightly too big for my A4 scanner so bits are missing top, left and bottom. Not happy with the tulips as I couldn't quite get their "form" and I changed the background colour a couple of times which resulted in the colourfix becoming clogged even though I tried to brush a lot off. I was completely covered in pastel by the time I finished!!
