If Scotland had won independence this would have made an excellent new flag Val! The thistles are beautifully painted and the Saltire makes an unusual and attractive background. Come on - try a thistle one-liner!

This is really beautiful, Val, and as a Scot myself, I appreciate it even more. I agree with Christine that this could have been the new identity of Scotland, and very pretty it would have looked too. The thistles are wonderful and it is quite amazing how you managed to get that prickly effect. I am giving it a big 'Aye'!

I painted these thistles and couldn't think what background to give them so ended up with the flag. Well it was the year of the Scottish referendum after all LOL ( and just in case you are wondering it wasn't intended as a political statement honestly :) ) Thought about trying them as a one liner.................... no chance!
