I've been wandering down your lane and poking about among the trees and undergrowth for a good few minutes now - this sort of scene is very familiar to me, living where I do, and it's of endless interest still. Out of interest - do you use a black pastel (I can rarely seem to find one) or maybe a conté crayon or something similar?

Thanks Robert. I use a Cont’e Crayon sometimes as in this piece. But usually not at all if no twigs in the scene. For dark colours I over lay deep purples and blues makes for a much better painting.
