Thank you for your comments which I find very encouraging. Watercolour always gives you more than you expect and often more than you deserve. When I did 'dales sheep' I was interested in composition and how objects break a line or join two parts of a painting i.e the sheep break the horizontal line of the walls and join the bottom and top shapes and I think the composition works, however, what was unexpected was the the way french ultra, burnt sienna, raw sienna and some water gave me sheep with attitude!

This is beautifully painted, perfect placement, superb atmosphere and a lovely palette.

Excellent use of watercolour - it can take you by surprise (one way or the other!) but this didn't happen by accident.
