Roan Horse

Roan Horse
Comments

Georgeous horse in watercolour Paul, and you have captured the very thing that makes this a roan horse beautifully, the white flecks of hair in its coat

Incredible detail without being photographic. This still has soul and captures the essential character of the horse. I love to see watercolour used like this.

With a bridle like that it could be an Arab type. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Lovely painting of its face.

Lovely study. The horse looks like a typical Thoroughbred to me. It's not an Arab as it doesn't have a dished face and too fine to be a Warmblood or native horse. Anyway, whatever the breed, it is a super portrait.

Thank you Ros, Diana, Gudrun, Anne and Thea for your lovely comments. Plus thanks Thea for the info. :-)

Well.........finished, yeah!! But to be honest with you I'm also disappointed! This is only because I've finished it, sooo, I'd better plan the next one to do now then. Watercolour on SAA 300gsm paper, size A4 and approx 30 - 35 hours (didn't time myself) from start to finished. If anyone knows the breed of this horse please let me know. I'm not up to date with the different types. I have placed this painting on my FaceBook page in different stages so please take a peek and if you have an account please 'like' and share my page. :-) https://www.facebook.com/thedevonartistpaul or http://www.devonartist.co.uk/
