This is stunning Pat. I love the composition and your palette colour. Many thanks for your very nice comment on my painting. In regard to your question, when I set up a still life I use photographic studio lighting with daylight bulb

This is very effective Pat; you may think it's messy but the impressionistic approach is wonderful and the colours great.

It's wonderful Pat, love te subject.

It works for me Pat. --- Brilliant knife work. --Good composition

Thank you Petra, Jane, Fiona, Charles, Kevin for your helpful comments. The painting is in the garage on my easel still drying - I'll go and have a look and see if it's improved! Not my favourite piece, I prefer something with more definition and more subdued colurs but need to try something different occasionally.

Looks pretty good close up too to me! Super colours and textures and such a nice feeling about it.

Hi Pat I Realy like the painting and yery much relate to it, oils using a knife, I could not find your paintings about a week ago in the Gallery to say thanks for your kind comments on one of mine, only to see your painting now on the home page, so Thanks. Kind regards john.

Thank you John and Thea. I was delighted, John, that it was put on the gallery, I've been working away from home (not painting unfortunately), so didn't pick up my e.mails until this weekend. So I might frame it after all!

pat is this in the Cottingham show at the moment?? great image and treatment

Yes it is Bryan, well spotted. Thanks for your comments. Some good pictures in the exhibition - I called in on Tuesday. I've another in there - right at the back - Number 50 Meandering River. Hard times - I've exhibited twice before and have sold on both occasions though probably not this year. I've just looked in the catalogue and see you have also got paintings in Cottingham. I'll have a look when I pick mine up on Saturday and see if I can find you on painters on line. (I should have put "as seen in the Artist!"). Just a hobby for me but it's nice if anyone is interested to buy one as it covers the cost of materials!

It's great to use a knife and I think you have done very well here. It is the only way I can loosen up my style as I tend to get to fussy! But i do like this and the rest of your gallery. Well done.

Oil on board, painted with knife. 13" x 9.5". Not a good photo - too messy with heavy knife work - lokks better from a distance!
