I think I started this one in watercolour and then experimented with adding gouache and even pen to get the effect I wanted.

Lovely work Jo, composition, colour and texture.

You have a very appealing style, Jo. I like the limited palette in this one.

I've lost count of how many images I have created based on this inspirational subject! Bank Ground Farm was Arthur Ransome's inspiration for "Holly Howe" in his "Swallows and Amazons" series of children's stories (the boathouses are just behind my back and "Wild Cat Island" is just a few miles by boat up Coniston Water !) That wonderful hedgerow was sadly depleted the last time I saw it, and the barn converted to holiday accommodation, but still it remained an evocative place! Copyright : Jo Morton
