It's now a while since I painted this large experimental semi-abstract landscape, and I still love it! The village up on the hill is Sowerby, in West Yorkshire, and the painting is based on gouache studies I made looking up the hillside from the village .of Luddenden Foot. My first serious oil, on a canvas stretcher on college premises that noone else wanted! Painted in oil on canvas. Copyright: Jo Morton 2003
