Thats a lovely one, lovely graceful position. I really like this style. When you use mixed media is it the pastel that comes after the watercolour or the other way round. Just entered a portrait but I have my doubts on the result.

Well done, Jeannette. What paper do you use? Where do you get all the Degas pics? Oh! I guess I could look on the internet???I love this, aren't the pastels fun to work with. Many thanks for your nice comments re 'Ping! Its Magic!'. I would sell them if I knew how. A local lady asked me if I would exhibit on the Island in September with other locals. Of course I will, there are only four or five of us and that includes my son and me. I expect I will only be able to exhibit four or five and I was going to ask you nearer the time which ones you thought and prices and frames etc. I am excited about it though.

I love this one!! I keep looking at it and its perfect!

Wow Jeanette they are all great. Are you sure you've only just started using pastels?!!!! Do you use watercolour paper for your mixed medium ones? I've tried watercolour and pastel together but with limited success. I tend to use rough w/c paper and I think it has too much of a tooth for the pastel, ends up a bit of a mess! Well done. Val

Hi Jeanette, the pastels I use are Rembrant soft pastels which I like a lot. The pastel pencils I have are Faber Castell but I don't think much of them either. Like you said very difficult to sharpen and not that easy to use on top of the soft pastels. Thought the white pencil would be good for highlights but it seems the worst for over the soft pastel. Almost makes it greasy. On Friday I got some Carres Conte Crayons as I thought as they are hard they might be better for fine detail. Not sure yet, will let you know when I've worked with them a few times. Love Val

Thanks for pointing me to these, you have every right to be pleased and proud of them.

I like the atmosphere and the feeling of movement in this one. Well done.

This is my favourite! Interesting media mix - are there demos' on-line to get an idea how the two work together? An inspiring portfolio.
