This is really lovely and very different from your style. I love the soft colours. How did you like the velour, I have to try it one day because I have heard many praise it. Your painting doesn't look like pastel. What do you mean by glazing with pastels?

very accomplished painting ,jeanette nice shadows....chris

This is absolutely lovely. I like the effect of this velour paper very much.

absolutely adorable! These little lambs look fluffy and ready to be cuddled, i now want to try what you've done too, and i believe this is called INSPIRATION :-) well done!

Thanks for your explanation, your time and comments. Regards Lorraine

Just ..simply....gorgeous.they look so real, as if you could reach into the screen and feel their soft fleece. superbly exucuted as usal, inspirational........INDEED. regards irene. please treat...."yourself to another gold star" regards....irene.

Well done. I too just did one of Vivien's e-courses on the wolf. Like you the (I think) most important thing I learned was the underpainting then glazing and also the techniques for pastel. You get such depth of wool/fur with her techniques. I'd only ever made muddy messes before. I used soft pastels though on velour. Isn't it a lovely surface to hold the pastel? I did try one of my own dog but with nowhere near such results. Didn't like it- didn't post it LOL

What a lovely picture Jeannette. Must go and have a look at these E workshops.

This is excellent Jeannette, like Margaret I'll have to look into Vivian' s e workshops as I'm totaly self taught when it comes to pastels, I'm sure I could learn a lot. If I could produce a painting as good as this after her tuition I'd be over the moon. One of the things I like about it is how pure and bright the white highlights are, not muddied by any of the other colours. A beautiful painting.

Thank you all for your very kind comments. Looks like Diana has started a trend. It was her wolf that prompted me to look at Vivien's E workshop!

How much I love this pastel painting! I find difficult working with hard pastels. This is a great job! and the lambs so cute. Can't wait to see your dog.

Jeanette, this was the first e - lesson that I did with Vivien. You has made a brilliant job of it. Will you do the on line pet portrait course, it is well worth doing.

Beautiful Jeannette, so much feeling, I love it. Bill.

Really lovely pastelling,well done.

Spring Lambs - Vivien Walters E workshop. I gained quite a bit of knowledge underpainting and glazing with pastel. I liked working on velour and working with the hard pastels which are nowhere near as dusty! No mess. I shall now try a portrait of my dog.
