The location of this painting is at the Naarden Jachthaven in The Netherlands. There are many pretty water birds that frequent this area. Grebes are fresh water diving birds, with unusual plumage; their headdress sticks straight up like a punk rock hair doo. Baby grebes are often seen riding on their mothers back as if she has a built in baby carriage. I often see the male and female dancing and courting between all the pretty boats in this marina.
