Well Denise, I think it's a great portrait. In fact, for someone who has never painted before 2020, I would say it's quite exceptional. You have a talent that has been hidden away. Don't let it go to waste. As for your concerns about 'looking older' - no worries - you look beautiful.

My daughter said, I've painted an older version of myself. Nonetheless, it's definitely me. I put a few washes on yesterday and did some detail today. A3 size. I used my Chinese brush for this. I find that I'm reaching for them when working with watercolour. Do I like it. I don't like the fact that I've made myself look older but I'm happy with the paintwork.
