Arab Woman after JSS.

Very effective!!

Lovely work Denise. It is so hard to get the details of drapes in fabric but you’ve shown it well.

Lovely Denise 🥰

Excellent again. It looks great unfinished, doesn’t it?

Excellent Denise and really well painted.

Lovely handling of the medium Denise.

Your comments are very much appreciated David, Spencer, Faye, Marjorie, Paul and Fiona. I agree Marjorie and it is one of those paintings I will practice again.

Very evocative - could be in Petra, Jordan!

I don't know this painting. Nice work Denise.

Lovely colours and love the folds in the robe.

Love the almost care free style you have painted this in Denise. Works so well.

Lovely exercise Denise. I love Sargents watercolours too- they look effortless don't they?

Thanks very much Linda, Lewis, David, Chris and Sarah.

Well done you.

You've done is justice, good one Denise

Your painting is great Denise, the dress is great and colours are just right.

Love the way you have painted this Denise. You have used wet in wet techniques so cleverly and the end result is superb.

Beautifully painted, Denise.

Much appreciated Sylvia, Heather, Richard, Carole, Ellen and Val-Irene.

Indeed very effective and love the smart looseness!

Hang on Studio Wall

I've been working in oils the past couple of weeks and wanted to get some practice with watercolours today. I love this particular watercolour by John Singer Sargent. He did it on his travels and it was apparently unfinished. What I like in the real painting, is how he suggest's the folds in the fabric. Why it was unfinished. Was he rushing home for tea. Who knows. Limited palette.
