A lovely sketch Denise , I suspect your being hard on yourself and it’s actually a very good likeness. What an interesting looking face , full of personality.

A good one from life Denise.

Very good indeed and what a great model

Really good sketch Denise.

A very good sketch from life Denise.

Your portraits are improving in leaps and bounds Denise. This is lovely.

Nicely observed and constructively drawn Denise… I’m thinking tonal values here, they’re working, but you could go a bit stronger on some of the shading perhaps… just my initial observation. A great opportunity here with that toned grey paper to really create some strong passages, highlighted with the white chalk.

Looks like you’ve captured a good likeness of an interesting face Denise.

Your comments are much appreciated thanks Paul, Marjorie, Heather, Stephen, Hilary, Carole, Alan and Christine.

Another good one Denise. Alan is right about the tones, could go darker.

Thanks Carole, Cheryl and Tessa, yes Tessa, I might darken some areas and work on it a bit more.

Confidently captured Denise

Super sketch Denise. Did you have time limits to complete it? I’ve only taken part in a couple of life drawing sessions but I found there wasn’t much time to faff. It’s very good.

Your life studies and portraits are getting progressively better Denise. Like every branch of Art You have studied, your painting and drawing becomes top rate, as I am sure will your portrait work. And I like this one!

Thanks Chris and Fiona. Fiona, the portrait model remains for two hours, they have a break half way through, then return to the same pose. I've just darkened some of my tones as Alan suggested. I blended some areas and continued on with the dreadlocks she had.

Fabulous Denise.

Done last night at the sketching club. I caught a good likeness so was fairly happy. Graphite.
