Avro Lancaster by Nicholas Coker
The Avro Lancaster played a vital role in the second world war, perhaps best known for the famous 'Dambuster' raids. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is an flying organisation that maintains and flies aircraft such as the Supermarine Spitfire, the Hawker Hurricane and perhaps the jewel in it's crown, the Avro Lancaster. This piece was originally intended to be a painting, however as i was sketching it out i found it very hard not to add detail and shading. The piece got to the point that it would be a shame to cover it up with paint so i decided to leave it as a drawing instead. I am really interested in the way the light reflects of the panels and how a rivet can create a ripple effect.
