Brilliant - in all senses of the word.

PS When we drew eyes in our art class I directed them all to view your competition eyes (I hope this was OK without asking you first) and they were mightily impressed.

I homed in on this one immediately this morning, fabulous, how long did it take?

Whimsical, bright and strong in composition. And good interaction between the shapes. It's a lovely.

I agree with everyone. Stunning painting. Very well done

Highly original and so well observed Diana.

super very well done I agree with

Gosh I'm flattered, thank you all so much. Sian I'm honoured. Thank you. Brenda, it's hard top say how long it took because there was an awful lot of planing and observation over a couple of days; taking notes of where there were highlights and shadows, especially around the coloured part of the shavings. Once that was done and the colours worked out and tried out on scrap paper it probably only took an hour but with lots of drying time between.

This is a very original still life and very well painted.

What an unusual idea. Jx

Having a bad week with landscapes that don't work and two difficult commissions I decided to take a break and do something that would take a lot of observation of shadows and highlights.
