Incredible achievement for 30 minutes. Do like the angular brushstrokes and the tonal values Nancy.

Thank you SO much Carole, I did use flat brushes with this sketch, especially the face. thanks for catching that and your lovely comment!

Don't know how truly "you" it is Nancy, but fine work as a painting. B lack and white can be so effective. Nice work.

Beautiful portrait, Nancy.

Yes agree Nancy, great tonal values, nice work.

I like this a lot. An incredibly expressive portrait, Nancy!

Thanks so much Jim. I am learning a lot about tonal values using just black and white with faces.

Thank you Cesare for your generous comment, you paint such beautiful portraits, I continually learn from you.

And I appreciate your comment Alan, thanks for saying I achieved the values right, I am always working on it! And hello Detlev, thanks for finding this expressive, thanks for commenting!

Wonderful! I love the tonal range you've got here, and the expression you've caught.

It's part of an original sketch book in the NY Arthouse Sketchbook Project Museum and Library. if interested to participate, check out their website: https://www.sketchbookproject.com
