Nice little watercolour studies of our lovely trees that look so good at the moment.

A good fist Michael....repetitive!!!! Will have a go my self very soon.

i like this as well Michael, i like tree's and just nice to see them on display like this

nice one Michael center bottom middle best ,,not to top heavy

its nice when an old oak looks like its about to fall over...... but then the weight of a branch on its opposite side balances it ,,, natures way of making things look lovely .some one remarked Ted Wesson trees not looking like trees in the distance and yet they are correct to my eyes.. because Teds distant trees look flat topped not round,,,yet trees are flat topped if standing together in a line in the distance ,,,

Fantastic - you and Alan should do a piece together in (hallo Dawn, get on to the editor!) Leisure Painter; or the Artist come to that; let's have more painting, and less bashing the paper with the brush.

Well thanks so much everyone - didn't expect such a response for a 10 to 15 minute doodle but much appreciated. Robert - would love to work with Alan on a piece (happy to go to him to sort it out and I am sure I could learn so much from him) but regrettably I doubt if your suggestion will ever take off. Nice thought though.

You make it look so easy Michael, lovely studies of our trees

Great to see the way to paint trees I admire and strive for us being popularised. J

I love painting trees, you have done a lovely job. Got my inspiration from Bob Ross.

Help!! I just deleted my portfolio, can I get it back?

Yes, I know it's unlikely that a collaborative work between you and our Alan would be considered, and I take the point that Alan Owen may not be up to it physically: I still think someone should take the trouble (yoo hoo, Dawn!) to write an article about the two of you and include these examples of your work - because you both have FAR more to teach than the great majority of predictable, staid, sad, worn-out "professionals" on the regular channels. And damn' it all, I'm going to get specific: Terry Harrison and Keith Fenwick have been flogging the same old stuff for decades - don't mind, they're both good at it; but it does get repetitive. Charles Evans and Matthew Palmer are amongst the newer generation - and I'm going to be VERY good, and not say what I think of them (largely because Alan O likes Evans...). But none of these lads, whatever one might think of them and I reserve judgement, has anything LIKE the wealth of experience that some of our own painters have to offer - to both the Television and Drawing Channel and The Artists' Publishing Company I say: don't give us the same old predictable stuff, the safe option, the tricksy "technique" driven, inspiration-free mush: we've all seen it so often before. Don't restrict yourself to your approved list of safe artists (this isn't a pitch, by the way, because I just don't want to do it at all), for goodness' sake, take a walk on the wild side, give it a punt, steer away from the dully expectable. Frankly, I'm getting pig-sick of arty demos that extol the virtues of a particular brush, or push the advantages of a particular range of colours. I daresay SAA brushes and colours are fine, but I'd really rather you concentrated on technique rather than product placement. How about it?

Karyl - move fast, get in touch with Dawn: it might be possible, but .... I fear it probably isn't. So long as you've got your images in a file, though, you should be able to re-post them: I do hope you have???

Robert - I am with you all the way and would be quite to take up the challenge of preparing (with Alan) something a bit different - it will be most interesting to see if anyone wants at either of the mags wants to take it further........

Love this, Michael. I am really envious, especially since painting trees is my particular weak spot. A lot to learn from you and Alan.

Wish I could paint trees like this, they are superb

Saw Alan's posting earlier today - just superb. Well I just had to have a go using my own technique which is not so far removed from Alan's - a bit rushed but fun.
