I love the light in this. It's clearly winter but it also looks like one of these lovely mild days we've been having.

I really like this painting Michael, very well painted

Just shows that less is definitely more. Wonderful tree and the way you have kept the rest of the painting unfussy and calm really sets it off to best advantage. Love all the colours in the trunk.

Brilliant tree, - Well painted

I agree with Thea. Lovely painting.

Like this one Michael, particularly the structure and tones within the tree trunk which is so realistic, really well painted.

Oh, Michael, this is great! All the above are right and especially Thea who said it so beautifully. Trees are one of my favourite subjects and this one is perfect!

Very nice work Michael, I also like the wet in wet distant trees. To sum it up - Tree-mendous (sorry).

I agree with all the above comments - a beautifully rendered tree

I think you are well on your way to joining the tree club : ) Congratulations.

Popped out this morning and returned to so many responses - too many to say thank you individually so please forgive me but I am so grateful to you all for taking the time to comment and for all your support and encouragement.

This is truly excellent, Michael! I think you've captured the shape of the tree and its branches perfectly, and the receding background is just superb - simple but does the job so well of bringing out th tree. Love this painting!

Beautiful Michael, the colours and washes are just perfect.

This is a lovely tree - and a really beautiful painting!

Hi Machael, You are so lucky to have a nice frend who gives you a permission. because of that, your world is getting wider. very smple, but colours show perfect harmony. Sorry my English is still so bad.

Seok, Fiona, Teresa and Midori thanks so much for taking the time to leave comments.

A wonderful painting Michael, I love the green in the foreground too.

Thanks Denise - I felt the simplicity of the tree form called for an unfussy foreground so I just added a few shadows (or whatever you want them to be) with a few sweeps of the brush - seems to work.

Excellent pic, Michael. In photography single trees are frowned upon as not very inspirig. However, you have executed an excellent, interesting job here. best Mick

Michael I missed this one for some reason. Beautiful tree and a lovely painting. There is an old tree covered with ivy in the park near us, I always look at it whilst walking the dog. Perhaps that will be my next 'dabble'. Thank you for putting the remarks on multiple postings. I was just about to put some comment but you covered it adequately.

Many congratulations Michael on your top ten painting, and thank you very much for your kind words on 'Fenland Lane'.

Many congratulations Michael, it is a beautiful painting

Only just completed this one. A tree just outside my village in a field owned by Hattie who gave me permission to 'trespass'. I was encouraged to try this tree having seen the many superb postings on this site by Kirstie.
