OK I know - the green of the tree behind the house is a bit harsh - must have stuck my brush in Hookers instead of Sap - yes I do use proprietary greens but usually knock them back a bit with burnt sienna etc. perhaps a bit too rushed in this case! Might have helped if I had included a bit of the colour in the hedge in a couple of places. Mind you the green doesn't look so harsh in reality.

I like it a lot! We need some bright colours after this prolonged winter.

You are being too picky, I like the greens and would not have noticed!!!! I like the sky and water too. Thank you for your helpful comment re-my painting. I have adjusted it a little bit and it does look better :)

Nice Wesson style watercolour as I like them. Would shadow of the cloud on the water be an idea to break up the big shape. Maybe not- Wesson kept his water very simple.

fantasic Michael , everything is perfect for my eyes .

I don't know why, but the word "jolly" springs to mind. It's a happy painting somehow!?

Thanks everyone for your very generous comments - especially the accolade from Alan which has made my day - or night - it's 8pm!

Just looked again at this. Nice demonstration of how cast shadows on white buildings are so effective in blue. John Hoar taught me this.

Nice work Michael, although you have copied Alan's original it has your style about it.

Lovely painting, you have a nice painting style, free and spontaneous, slightly loose but not overly which I like. Very good.

Half an hour to spare this pm so after scratching my head for something quick and simple I had a go at one of Alan Owen's loose paintings - it was helpful that we are not that far apart in styles. This one appealed to me. I've posted a few comments against some of the postings so now it's time to get your own back - crits welcome.
