Painting Narcissus To achieve the best results when painting Narcissus it is advisable to paint different coloured flowers, such as daffodils, behind them as they have white petals. This will help to push them forward so as to be more prominent in your painting. And add a wash of blue in the background where you consider it necessary. Deepen the tone behind the stamens to make them stand out and prevent hard lines with a clean damp brush. For the shadow colour on white flowers, use a blue grey mix using, for example, cobalt blue with a touch of rose madder and a little aureolin or lemon. Try this out on a bit of practice paper until you have the correct pale tone. I think I would have left out the pot and made it look as if it were growing in the ground or as part of a posy of flowers. I have searched through my store but all my paintings of these must have been sold as there are none anywhere to be found. Don’t have time at present to paint more. Sorry. I hope that this helps you along Max although I find it easier to teach by demonstration. Good luck and please let me know how you get on. Looking forward to your next flower painting.

Thank you once again Maureen for your valid instruction......the flower paintings were the very first attempt at painting........i do appreciate your helpful instructions i will certainly follow them in future paintings........could do with you living more local to us.

I agree with Maureen's comments she is so experienced...I think it's a wonderful effort for your first attempt.

Thank you Patsy for your continued support.....being this was my first attempt at flower painting i needed some advice on how to improve it & Maureen so kindly gave it to me. "MERLIN " is my all time favourite daffodil.
