I really like the way you have added real shape and texture to the background rocks. I am assuming that in reproducing the painting that some of the colours have been bleached out a bit as I can see that there is some colour in the sea, but it seems quite faint on my screen. Given that the rocks are the tone that they are, perhaps it might have been an idea to put a little more strength into the sea, using all those lovely colours that you have used in other paintings, and also define the foreground just a tad more. However, I see what you are getting at here and applaud you for trying to keep your colours from becoming muddy - a very good goal!

I do agree with Thea, it is a very delicate painting. I also think that you are a bit afraid of paint....Go for it , deepen your colours it does not matter if you make a mistake, I have had so many bonfires and ripping into two sessions. More colour on your brush..

Thank you again Thea & Sylvia for your kind comments which i treasure. Yes i agree about the sea it do need a little more colour to join the painting up in the middle. Sylvia I too have torn paintings up (mess up's as i call them) & put them in the bin.

A4 watercolour paper. I tried to keep the colours clean & bright in this painting petrified of the "muddy" look creeping in do you agree.
