Nice little painting, your trees are very good.

Thank you carole i did this one about six months ago & enjoyed painting it.

Never quite known what a mackeral sky was - but now I do! This is almost a 'Swallows and Amazons' scene (do you know the famous Arthur Ransome children's book?). A secluded cove, a cave (?), and shimmering water is very evocative of those lazy summer days of one's childhood. The sky is so interesting. Did you blot the white out to get the effect? Your boats are beautifully hinted at rather than spelled out too much. Thoughful and great work.

I called this painting "Mackeral Sky" because it resembles a fish. (there is a saying a mackeral sky) I left the fish white in the sky & painted the pink uderneath to depict a sunset. It took a bit of thought but i really loved painting it. Thank you yet again for your comment's they are most welcome

I must phone POL - I'll start again as the first effort just disappeared and I wasn't touching anything. I like this one Max. The light on the water is good and your reflections are reflecting in the right places. Mackerel skies always make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, I don't know why. Is that a cave there to the left? Where is it? I'd like to go there with my easel and a picnic lunch. Maybe to spend the day, or two, painting the scene from life. Well done keep it up.

Meant to say thank you for your comment regarding the green and silver in my photograph of the crocuses. The green now needs cutting and weeding and the silver is preparing to put out some flowers. I'll take more from the same place later to show what happens in that spot.

Thank you for your kind comments on this painting Maureen very much appreciated!!! Look forward to seeing the updated photo of the silver plant next to the crocuses when ready. This painting was my interpretation of a cove in "Stoke Gabriel" near Churston Ferrers Devon. The cave was artistic licence, to make the balance of the painting. (sorry). It is on the River Dart.

Thank you for your comments on my mountains and lake Max, and I also have learnt what a mackerel sky is now. Lovely painting, keep up the good work.

Thank you for your kind comment on my mackeral sky.....very much appreciated.

Max, thank you very much for your comments on the Old School and other paintings. I haven't posted a new photo but the horse now has shadows and the road had shadows of tree branches across it- much better. People are so helpful. By the way I like this painting. I think your best yet. You seem to be getting more confident in your use of colour.

Thank you for the comment on this painting Diana...this was painted last year....it was of "STOKE GABRIEL" on the river dart....the cave on the left is artistic licence & does not exist...i included it to make the painting balance.

A beautiful painting Max I just love the sky

I really enjoyed painting this one......i had to include the cave on the left to balance it......it was a lovely day & it is one of my favourites.....Thank you Patsy.
