Painted with amazing confidence and wonderful use of strong colour to describe the landscape. I am always thrilled when I see an artist using colour so expressively and changing the palette to reflect what he/she feels about the subject. I am sure your wife has this painting in pride of place now.

The road down from the heights of Askrigg Common into the town of Askrigg in Wensleydale passes through a typical landscape of small fields, drystone walls and field barns. In the late spring and early summer these fields are ablaze with buttercups. The massive bulk of Addlebrough on the far side of the Wensleydale valley dominates the distance. Painted a few weeks ago for my wife's birthday (yesterday). Mixed media.
