'Millstone, Windgate Nick, Addingham High Moor' by Martin Williamson

The moors stretching between the Aire valley and Ilkley in Yorkshire are predominantly formed of millstone, a variety of sandstone, and once an industry flourished in these parts producing millstones for grinding flour and other crops. A lonely relic of this bygone era can be found near Windgate Nick on Addingham High Moor, looking for all the world like a piece of modern sculpture amongst the heather. Pen, ink, wax resist wash and oil pastel.
