Martin, I particularly like dark landscapes. The people who say that your paintings are gloomy and miserable are wrong. Infact, the darker ones are full of colour. I think dramatic and atmospheric are better words to describe them. I especially like "Mwnt" and "Snowdonia". However, I had to smile because this particular painting of "Bolton Abbey" isn't bright and cheerful as you describe it! It includes tomb stones! It's a lovely painting but I'm afraid it doesn't convey a feeling of cheery springtime! You don't have to prove anything, you're so good at what you do!

People sometimes say I paint gloomy, miserable paintings with louring skies and dark landscapes - fair comment! This image proves I CAN paint bright, cheerful scenes as well! Painted on location at the priory ruins of Bolton Abbey, about 9.30am this morning. Pen, brush and ink with wax resist. 15" x 22"
