A very good copy and what a great artist to copy from

Well done Marjorie, a very good copy. I agree about copying favorite paintings, if nothing else it relieves you from thinking what shall I do next. It also makes you appreciate the artist more. ( In my life I've only copied about ten, not that many for my age...maybe time to do another.)

It’s a superb piece Marjorie, and beautifully done. Think I will do a monthly challenge, your version of a famous painting, thanks for the idea .

Thanks Heather, Lew and Paul - can I use this one again!😆

I suspect we all start off by copying well known works, but get sidetracked and rarely meet the high standard you have shown here.

Nice work Marjorie, Excellent likeness.

Thanks Tony and George. It’s a process of tiny continual adjustments…I suspect there’ll be a few more.

Very nice indeed, lovely features for this masterpiece...well done Marjorie!

This is superb Marjorie. You are so brave to take on such a challenge. The result is very impressive.

Terrific Marjorie - I think the 'great man' would be impressed!

Excellent old master, very nicely painted.

Impressive Marjorie and what a good idea to try something like this.

Nicely done Marjorie and I agree totally, it's so enjoyable painting a master copy.

Marjorie this is fantastic!

Unmistakable sitter. Great effort Marjorie

Striking, Marjorie. Excellent work.

You have painted the facial structure very well indeed Marjorie.

So good!

Excellent colour and value use. It also has so much life. Nice work.

Thank you for all your comments - as usual I have made tiny adjustments ( the eyes and the mouth) but have left it now. I really enjoyed doing this one.

Excellent portrait!

Yes, a super copy Marjorie.

Oow! My hero. Recognised it straight away. Good work, Marjorie.

Copying a masterpiece is enjoyable and absorbing, plus it takes your mind off current worries. Newly painted so the light is reflecting off the background.
