Beautiful softness in the golds of that fabric

That's great, Marjorie. I know the painting, recognised it immediately.

This is super Marjorie. I didn’t know the original so just looked it up. You’ve painted your version it really well.

Beautifully done, Marjorie. Love your very strategic use of hard and soft edges. It's so very effective.

Thank you all, pure enjoyment, JSS did all the work.

Great work Marjorie.

Having done this painting (copy), it isn't the easiest, far from it. Very nice work Marjorie.

Very impressive Marjorie

Thanks Shaun, Russell and Jim - I know you're a JSS fan.

Like Lewis I recognised it straight away! Love the way you have painted the fabric - beautiful

Absolutely stunning Marjorie. The way you have captured the folds and fabric of her gown is excellent.

Thank you Margaret and Fiona, the material was gorgeous to paint. I'm sure you've both seen the original, it's spectacular I think.

Once seen, never forgotten. Great tribute.

Thanks very much Tony.

Fabulous work Marjorie.

Excellent - that dress is particularly good

Just beautiful Marjorie, I envy your skill, it is way beyond my mountains and pen and ink work, the flow of the fabric is so good you can almost feel the softness, nice one.

Love the luscious gradations of pinky purples in her dress and the soft flow of the fabric Marjorie. A lovely dreamy painting.

Oh that's so beautiful Marjorie, love the sheen you have achieved on the folds of the dress, wonderful!!

The original by JSS is one of my all time favourites Marjorie and I think you’ve done a good job with your version. Kudos!

Thanks Heather, that dress is so beautiful in the original painting. Thank you for all the nice comments Jacqueline, Malcolm, Carole, Linda and Frank. JSS probably flattered his sitters, the " society ladies" but his handling of material is wonderful, I marvel at it. Looking for another one to paint now.

Wow, how wonderful you did JSS! You even described the eye expression of Lady Agnew As well as her gorgeous dress!

Wow, now you own a masterpiece Of JSS! You are inspired me!

Yoko, you made me laugh😆

So beautiful Marjorie, gorgeous sheen on the fabric.

Thanks very much Michael. I've just been deciding which of JSSargent's I'll do next. I've done a few before, it's very enjoyable, looking at a technique and trying to emulate it, as well as the colours.

Super work Marjorie, recognised as his famous portrait, you have done a great job of this.

Thanks a lot Stephen.

beautiful material - very well painted marjorie.

Thank you, Val- Irene.

Oil on board. Just fancied using a "romantic" palette so painted one of my favourite portraits by J. Singer Sargent. Always visit it in the Scottish National Gallery when I'm in Edinburgh.
