Super charcoal drawing, love the details you have captured in this Marjorie

Just in passing, I wonder why we're guilty about "cheating", when we mix our media without having necessarily intended to at the outset? I have just the same feeling, but blowed if I understand why: it's the result that matters. Anyway, after that philosophical aside - magnificent tomcat, fully aware of his place in society, and beautifully rendered.

A handsome devil....nicely done Marjorie!

Super drawing of a beautiful model. Well done Marjorie.

Agree with Robert on the cheating subject. I used to feel guilty about such things but not any more. It's the end result that counts. Anyway, great portrait of a lovely cat. Well done.

Absolutely beautiful, Who cares if you cheat, only the purists

He is a handsome chappy and you have done him proud :)

Great painting ! Lovely intelligent expression you've caught

Thank you everyone for such positive comments. I don't often paint animals but I enjoyed doing this so much I intend to do more. Thanks again!

Ha ha, he looks a great character , beautiful drawing.

Agree with all the above, beautifully done. Just love the eyes, they positively glisten!

This is beautiful....especially the kind eyes.

Hi Marjorie, don't know how I have missed your gallery, fabulous work, but just love this one. My medium was watercolour, but have recently gone across to coloured pencils, but looking at you charcoal work, I may have to expand further. I used to think on the purist view point but my attitudes have changed, this is confirmed in the way you have used the pastel, it's the result that counts.

Willow charcoal and tinted charcoal pencils with a bit of cheating with a white pastel. The "lodger"sat for ages for his portrait cos he's a handsome lad and he knows it. I've booked another session with him soon, to be captured in pastels. He will insist that I paint him from his best side!
