A super painting, Marjorie. Love the composition and the rich greens.

Love the "just right" ness about this Marjorie. Well done.

Lovely work Marjorie, I absolutely love the colours!

Nicely done Marjorie, Lovely colours.

Just worked so well...

The colours have worked so well together and you've created a beautiful light in your painting Marjorie. Great composition with the building peeping through!

Lovely, soft painting, Marjorie. I love the sweep of the foliage.

Rather good brush strokes and detail, but not overworked… an excellent piece Marjorie! No surprise there then!

Thanks very much everyone for all the comments. 😁

A lovely light and soft harmony displayed Marjorie. Don’t forget hat next time!

I can feel the heat Marjorie, very nice.

I like the hazy hot feel to it Marjorie

A super painting Marjorie.

Lovely Marjorie

Beautiful tranquil painting, Marjorie.

I recognised your brushwork straight away, Marjorie. You've made such an attractive painting from all those greens by seeing the range, from blue to yellow. I really like the fuzzy bottom right, in contrast to the dabs of sharper detail. (I'm pleased that you told me that you accept "fuzzy" as a compliment because that's my intention.) Is this from the seat outside the hall, looking south-east-ish?

Thank you for the comments Carole, Lynn, Martin, Denise, Heather, Ellen and Roger. Roger, you can just see the road running past. I’m on the left as you leave the hall, there’s a little pond, now hidden by all the irises and grass.

The soft focus on the foliage works a treat Marjorie. There is an air of magic about this scene. Love it.

A lovely softness to this Marjorie and infused with sunshine.

I see you chose not, in the end, to introduce much by way of foreground detail, and that was wise, because it draws the eye to that just off-centre tonal contrast. Great friends of the painter, tonal contrasts!

Thanks again everyone. carole, this place feels like time has stood still - which I like. Thanks Carole and Robert - the pleasure I got was just by doing it, outside and making do with the colours I had. I can see quite a few possible improvements but that’s it, done!

It’s worked beautifully! The blues, greens and purples are lovely and the light on the path is gorgeous!

What a treat for the eye and senses Marjorie, uncluttered and a very appealing palette.

Such a lovely array of greens and such lovely light.

Thank you Fiona and Christine!

Beautiful Marjorie- your paintings are beautiful

Saw this as WIP but somehow missed the final version! I think you’ve captured beautifully the heat of the day Marjorie, and you lead the eye around the different areas of grasses and trees nicely. Also your greens and tones are excellent.

Rachel and Tessa, thanks very much - not had an opportunity to paint outside again, rain and dog to look after. Off next week on a 2 day en plein air course….a bit apprehensive. For some reason😳😆

Your colours are always so subtle Marjorie!

The first session was en plein air…I made do with the few colours I had. A lovely sunny morning ( a bit too hot in fact, I forgot the hat!) near the Northumberland coast. Finished off today inside, my excuse was the wind!
