Not quite The Cob

I think it’s beautiful Marjorie the smooth finish looks great.

I’m with Carole on this Marjorie, it’s quite lovely. I especially love how the boats and other details fade out on the left.

I think it's excellent Marjorie.

Oh, you are all so kind. I'm exhausted! Having a large G andT to bring myself around😆

Whatever you might think works well for me, lovely colours too.

After that very refreshing GandT( no, I'm not an alcoholic ), I think I'd like to try this again on a textured ground. I've ordered some. Thank you, Michael and Heather.

This is really good Marjorie and you have painted it beautifully.

I am with the others, Marjorie. There is nothing wrong with this, on the contrary, it's great.

I think I need a large G&T too Marjorie, this lockdown is making me bankrupt! Ordering from Jackson’s 🤨

Paul, Mia, you are both too kind! I learned something I hope. Carole I've been using GreatArt recently, not because they're cheaper but Jackson's seem to have a lot out of stock online. And I'm sure we would have spent that money elsewhere, can't at the moment.

Nice one Marjorie.

Well...I think this is super, just love those hazy boats!

I like painting on MDF... I find that I don’t always want a texture to paint on. Anyway Marjorie, this is excellent with your usual choice of colours and positive application!

Hi Marjorie, yes I have noticed Jackson’s ‘awaiting stock and out of stock’, they are good but it is a bit annoying. I had a bit of trouble with Great Art in the past with their packaging, some parcels came open and lost items. Also DPD couldn’t find my address🤨. I’m sure they will have improved though will look again thanks...x

Thanks for the comments everyone. I decided that when the weather improves I'm going to the Marina nearby. Not my usual subject but will have a go .

A fine and attractive harbour painting Marjorie. A suggestion of mist maybe?

Well it looks great to me Marjorie, perhaps the G and T clouded your judgement!

Yes Jim, let's say there was mist. Thanks Russell, G&T is the new absinthe but it wouldn't do to get addicted😌

This is the kind of painting I aspire to Marjorie. A subtle palette, omission of detail and a general appearance of the more you look, the more you see. For me, there is a lot to learn from this lovely painting

Thank you very much Carole for such a nice comment.

It's lovely Marjorie!

The fleet's in port again! This is lovely Marjorie; the texture on the buildings is just right and you weren't frightened of all those boats. I suppose I ought to have a go myself, but I am poor at architecture! Chicken? Incidentally, I like Jackson's canvas on MDF boards. The transparent primer is lovely to paint on. Not that it helps me; still need to do something worth posting! Regards John

Thanks John. Re your advice on supports, I do get MDF cut and sometimes I glue muslin or linen on to it. But I prefer the feel of " give" which a canvas has.

Oil on mdf which was too smooth. Sort of challenged myself but lost the will. Not to be examined too closely. Big mistake was not to crop the photo, my board was the wrong size - a poor workman.......
