Brings Edward Hopper’s ‘Chop Suey’ to my mind. These paintings always make me want to know what the diners are saying to each other!

Very challenging subject but you have done a great job. Well done, love it.

Super atmosphere, Marjorie. You have an eye for a subject -even if it would discourage some of us. Well done.

Thanks Karen, I wouldn't have thought of Hopper. Thanks Fred and Willie - I've had this in mind for about 3 years, finally I plucked up courage! I'd like to do some more, concentrating more on the reflections in the glass.

Challenging to say the least, but you have made a great job of it. It gives a feeling of what it would be like to be in the Musee's restaurant...if only...

Terrific work Marjorie. If it talks to me it's a winner. This does. Bags of noise and atmosphere and great figure work. Lovely.

Fantastic work Marjorie, quite a challenge!

Thanks Peter, yes, it would be nice to be there right now....cold glass of wine....thanks Jim and Satu, challenges are good.

What a challenge Marjorie! It’s an exceptional piece and has a lovely harmony.

Very atmospheric, Marjorie. Exceptional background.

Marjorie this is brilliant. Wow it has worked so well....

Fantastic, Marjorie.

This is amazing Marjorie. A earl eye catcher that draws the viewer into the scene. Love the slightly out of focus softness and your warm palette contrasting with the angular, harder, distant shapes.

Fiona, Mia, Sylvia, Dawn and Carole, thanks a lot for the comments.

Brilliantly portrayed...really hard subject..so well done Marjorie!

Hi Marjorie, hai sfidato te stessa! Great challenging work with beautiful atmosphere.

Thanks again, Thalia, Dennis and Cesare - certo Cesare, ho avuto paura un po!

Turned out really well Marjorie, love the choice of colours, the diner's are so well painted you can almost hear there chatter and conversation, brilliant work 😀

I think if Renoir had pained this scene, it would have looked something like this.

Love this scene - great atmosphere!

Absolutely brilliant Marjorie!!

Linda and Tony, many thanks, I appreciate the comments.

Shaun and Tony, thanks a lot!

Sorry, Russell, I meant to say "thankyou" too.

Oh and Marjorie, you should enter this in Patching next year!!

Wow Marjorie this is amazing! I think it's one of your best, such a complicated painting which you have handled so well.

Thanks Margaret. I keep looking at the man's face ( with the glass) , not sure if I like it, not sure if I'll change it. This is what happens when you can't leave something alone!

Oil on canvas, 40cmx50cm. In the restaurant at the Musée d'Orsay there is a blue glass wall where the glass is "fractured". The reflections are beautiful. Photo not great, taken in artificial light.
