Green and alizarin challenge

Green and alizarin challenge

Works well; as for being scrubbed - I get very bored with paintings that make a virtue of tidiness, and like to see evidence that a picture has actually seen a brush. This is all the better for not being polished and burnished to perfection, because it's ALIVE.

I think you've produced a lovely two colour painting Marjorie, a whole range of colour mixes and a charming subject too. Very well done!

This looks so spontaneous - so effective.

When you look at all the different responses to this challenge it is marvellous to see the different results and this certainly is a stunning one. Very, very well done, Marjorie!

Thank you everyone - it seems this challenge is over now?

I like this a lot Marjorie. I found the combination alizarine/viridian very interesting to use, but only as an experiment. Using just the two colours tended to produce a bit of a sickly result, something (i.e. another colour) was missing. However, I think your still life is enough on its own - probably because you have not used the viridian as a green anywhere.

Absolutely stunning work, Marjorie! Love the composition, the light and the contrast of warm and cool colors. A winner indeed!

I love this Marjorie and I'm with Robert on this one - I also love watercolours that are a little looser in style where the brushstrokes are evident. It's a really lovely rendition.

Nice work Marjorie looks fresh as a daisy .

Thanks again everyone for looking.

Superb Marjorie and some brilliant stuff here

That's a really nice painting Majorie it's beautifully done . Thank you so much for your comment on my cherry painting its 16 x 12 and i usually put a 5 inch double mount around my paintings making quiete a large finished product ... Used to paint small watercolours but I must say its just as easy to go large ...

Well, because of the subject, the alizarin seems to dominate. Don't examine the technique too closely, it's a bit scrubbed. However, it's all a bit of fun!
