Thank you Fiona, if there is one thing I have gained from my years on the hills, it is a true admiration for how nature over comes most things and I have always tried to instill this understanding in the individuals and groups I introduced to the hills. It is also why I only usually paint and draw were I have been, I need to feel the land coming out of the work? If you can understand what I mean ?

This Hawthorne was growing straight out of a crack in the rock face at the side of the track on the way up to Moel Syabod in Wales. It still fasinates me after all these years how these things survive all nature has to throw at them. I worked up some sketches for this on the spot and a photo aand then produce the work back home.
