Beautifully done Malcolm, sadly these old shop are disappearing so fast , our local tobacconist closed a couple of years ago. Whist I don’t smoke I used to love to see the windows full of pipes etc .

Really good and long may it continue

Like you Paul I am not a smoker but just loved the nostalgia when I saw this. It was one of those 'that would make a great painting' moments. I remember going into the a shop like this to get a quarter of sweets, for a halfpenny.

Charming, and beautifully done!

When shop fronts were nicely understated. Very nostalgic … nice work.

The shops of the olden times were so lovely. This represents them so well.

Thanks for the back story, Malcolm. A delightful nostalgic subject painting.

B A Kerrigan's Confectioner and Tobacconists shop in Perth has a shop front that is pure 1950's / 1960's in style. It's like stepping back in time and is a traditional shop still selling sweets in 'quarters' and is an old fashioned tobacconists too. The business was started in 1912. Painted on St Cuthbert's Mill 140lb Bockingford with White Nights watercolours.
