Well drawn and painted. I agree a good way to loosen up, also, more attractive, and a lot more fun with a smaller surface and a bigger brush.

Thanks for all the comments so far. I find the challenge is to keep it loose and not to revert to type. The results (when it works!!!) have inspired me to look for the next subject, which in itself is something new as I am now looking at all sorts of things which I would never have previously considered. Onwards and upwards as they say.

Currently teaching myself, through doing very quick pen & wash sketches, en plain air, to loosen up both my drawing and watercolour techniques. Using the 'don't lift your pen off the paper' technique to speed up and reduce detail in the sketches is proving successful (I think). These are in an A5 watercolour sketch book. I then use a size 6 mop brush and this means I 'cannot' do detail and it really helps loosen the style. I think the overall effect is much more attractive (Many more to come)
