Lovely face on your stag. Yes I agree, velour is great for fur but not easy to blend the pastels on it.

My first stag drawing (during a workshop with the artist, Vic Bearcroft). Done using pastels on velour - great materials for drawing fur, but it does need a bit of elbow grease to blend in the colours well. He does have a pretty face I thought.
