Thanks Diane, it's a heavy piece of wood and probably too heavy to put up on the wall, so it made sense and in any case it matches the colour scheme where it now lives!

This was the first time I had tried painting on wood (in this case a small piece of solid oak) and since then I have done several - it's a great surface to use. The freeness of this subject matter and the different colour used for the poppies really made it a delight to paint. I love it that much - I've attached legs to it, covered it with a glass top and converted it into a small table.
