Hakes are good things - look what you've just done with them! Still, they're only going back in their jam-jar, not being put away forever. Granted, they also have their limitations ... and you do eventually feel the pull of your sables again....... Like this one, good free strokes, not wishy-washy. What next??

Thanks Robert. I'll probably dig out my 'moon stamp' next. LOL

Gosh - that's a surprise - very moody with a glowering sky. Dark and brooding painting - perhaps before or after a storm? This certainly has a very different feel to the other two paintings - in fact you have very cleverly given us three different moods of the same scene - just shows what a few well applied brush strokes can do to describe atmosphere! Actually, when you said jokingly about digging out your moon stamp, I would say that I would have quite liked to see a moon in this sky - don't know why but the idea appeals to me. Another great example of your ability to really explore a subject.

A really moody version of the first one. I love it.

Yes, really moody like Val says. Full of atmosphere, very striking!

Is it just me or can anyone else see a pair of eyes! I bought 2 sizes of Hakes and just use them for wetting the paper, I dont think I could paint with them, being used to smaller brushes.

Lovely athmospheric watercolour Louise, beatuiful colour

Many thanks Thea, Val, Carole, Hazel and Petra. Hazel, the hakes are fun to paint with, you just have to go for it and sweep on the paint! They soak up a lot of paint though so you have to use a deep palette. You should really try painting with them.. You can't fiddle or add too much detail. Eyes? Now you mention it, yes! ( lol)

A lovely landscape with a great abstract feel to it. The colours work so well together - a super image.

The atmotsphere is striking in this one.Deep colours and good drawing backing it up .

Thank you Julie and David!

Love the brooding sky Louise, this small series with the hake has been a great success.

Love this, Louise! So very atmospheric.

Many thanks Fiona and Seok!

wayercolour 29 cm x 42 cm. As usually happens, I couldn't leave the subject alone. This is my final one and the hake brushes has been put back in their jam jar!
