Hi Louise...You have some very strong directional lines in this, which convey the Gothic-ness of Manchester well. A brave attempt in watercolour, and I think it works well in that the strength of colour used helps to give the somewhat claustrophobic feeling which is fairly evident there.

Thank you Ruth for your thoughtful comment. My problem is that I seem to start off on a different subject and can't leave it alone until I'm happy! At the moment, I'm loosing the battle and have, as usual started yet another painting of the same scene. If I reach the 'that'll do' stage, perhaps I'll be able to move on to something new. I hadn't thought about St Annes square having a claustrophobic feel to it, but, you're quite right, it has. Of course, I should say that I was trying to convey that feeling here! (lol)

I like these Manchester series Louise, very bold and strong!

I like the strong colours in this one too, as well as the composition.

Love the golden honey tones of the far building which are highlighted by the depth and shade of the tones of the nearer buildings.

Many thanks Debs, Gudrun and Fiona. I appreciate your comments as you've probably guessed!!

This is a bold and confident painting. You seem to have just let your ideas flow without fear or hesitation and that comes through in the work. Your lines are definite and your colours strong and effective. I particularly like the tone and colour of the sky which is a great foil for the light hitting the side of the buildings. Keep up the good work!!
