Spatter Face

Spatter Face

A bit of an experiment splashing paint! The bottom half works I think but not the eyes. Good fun though!

The middle figure doesn't work for me.

Many thanks for your honest opinion which I agree with Kal. The middle one was overworked which you spotted. The one on the left is ok I think. Difficult to control the splatters really..LOL but knowing me, I'll have another go until I feel happy with the result..

Green with envy I am! If we are concentrating on the middle face now, you can easily give it your magic touch by giving the nose a bigger splash of a shadow. Does this make any sense? Anyhow, I love it Louise!!

Love the marks on this, good spattering Louise.

Thanks Satu and Carole. Satu, I'll try that!

Very striking Louise, the composition just jumps off the screen. Thought from the thumbnail that it was some sort of lino-print, it must be the splatter I suppose which enhances that effect, but close up one can see the beautiful watercolour washes.

Very clever Louise, great splashes and spatters! Difficult to control them I would think without completely obliterating the facial features.

Many thanks Sharon, Christine and Dennis. I used some masking fluid here Christine but you're right, it's difficult to control and the whole thing can be ruined by one wrong flick of the brush! You should try it though, it doesn't take long and it's different! All a question of having a good aim really. LOL

For me the face on the left works best, I I like the green shadow and the mouth, as you say it's a very difficult process to control but it does look like a lot of fun!

That is the challenge of watercolour. I haven't done splatter so .... I rather like it as it is. Hydra-like.

Gosh, I wouldn't like to meet these three high flying ladies - they look as if they mean business! Wonderfully well done using the spatter technique which adds an interesting dimension to the faces and the whole feel of the painting. I like the way you have skillfully directed your splashes to enhance the shapes of the faces and the features - not easy, but you have done it really well. A good one Louise!
