I love it ! :)

Thought you might Kirstie :) My daughter didn't follow a career in poetry whereas I struggled on with the painting. Old paintings do bring back memories though!

Must admit I prefer your current stuff, but you talent was evident in those days.

I couldn't do this today Derek. Haven't got the patience!

That's brilliant Louise. It captures the whole feeling of panic and fear. That's a great creative combination of Mam and daughter.

A great illustration Louise, much patience needed as you say, I've never possessed patience as my work shows.

Wonderful illustration Louise, love it.

Poor little people, but I like the style though! :-)

A right illustration for children's literature, Louise.

Thanks Alan, Carole, Ivan and Cesare. Funny how old paintings can bring back so many memories. I remember painting these illustrations in our box room with the door closed. Now I have the house to myself, peace and a proper painting room to mess up...and it is a bit of a mess. I imagine that this illustration would have been a bit frightening to a small child which hadn't occurred to me at the time. I found the poems this morning written when my daughter was about nine. She got two team points for the following.. A tall mountain towering over the town at least 1000 feet tall A hot firey liquid, rumbling under the earth. All of a sudden BANG Rivers of hot lava pouring down the hill A Fire Dragon guzzles up the village.

This is wonderful Louise, it certainly goes really well with the poem. I should think you were very proud of your daughter, how clever to write something like this at nine years old.

She had a book full Margaret which I treasure!

A very clever nine year old to write such an engaging poem and a very clever mum to illustrate it so well.

Louise what a magnificent talent you are Fantastic

Many thanks for your kind words Val, Dennis and Linda!

You passed on your creative talent Louise, your daughter painted a picture in words!

Wow, Louise...You go from strength to strength! I absolutely love this!

Fantastic illustration Louise, love it

I keep popping back to this painting, just to see if that woman made it down from that window..lol

Lovely work with the poem aside it. I disagree with Derek, but it's down to taste, but I just love this illustrated work. Absolutley stunning.

Thank you Petra. So sorry Kirstie but apparently he 'guzzled' up the whole village. I like these as well Andre but they're not really commercial and I like to sell my work if I can. People like paintings of places they know..not scary dragons on the wall..LOL

I like everything you've posted Louise. Your latest work is excellent and this really should have made it at the publishers it's got everything a good illustration should have. I don't see why they wouldn't have liked it.

Thanks George. I gave up a after a couple of rejections and seem to remember that everything went by post in those days which was a bit of a hassle. Much easier today to send good images etc via the computer which we didn't have then. I didn't really try hard enough and I honestly can't remember exactly what they said :)

Superb illustration Louise! I thought for a second that you have suddenly changed style before I read the explication. I love it!

Oh yes Louise! He is scary but what a lovely scene nevertheless:)

In catch-up mode and wrestling with POL's new way of searching! I am working through my favourite artists after being away from the site for a while. Just love your dragon, magnificent! Will now go hunt down your recent paintings. Happy New Year.

When painting dragons here recently, I said at the time that they were a new subject for me. Then, I was having a sort out the other day and I came across this old one, painted at least 20 years ago. At the time, my daughter had written some lovely poems which I illustrated and sent off to a couple of publishers. They liked the poems.... Looking at it now, it was probably a bit scary - He ate up the whole village LOL
