Your style is so unique Louise, that I can understand that inspiration can be a stranger occassionally. I'm sure I can speak for others here; we look forward to your postings, especially seeing your fabulous colours!!! Pack up your paints and visit the soggy Highlands for some atmospheric inspiration!!!LOL

I think that this is lovely Louise, every time I see a new posting from you it makes me smile.

The above said it so very well, Louise. I love the black contours and the bright colours. I agree with you: I am also spending a lot of time on the web instead of doing some painting. It is addictive, just like painting, but it is difficult to decide what to do...

I think of time on the web, or elsewhere, as thinking time; not that it's a conscious process particularly, but just ploughing into painting after painting isn't a good idea, even for professionals; and it helps to let things mellow a bit before approaching the canvas. This is where oils come in handy.... you have to let them dry for a day or so, or you do the way I use them, or end up stirring wet mud about the palette. Did I say I liked the painting? No of course I didn't: but I do. Bought masking fluid a few weeks ago: still haven't used it.... have just never found a painting situation (yet) in which it really helps. Still, each to their own...

Thank you all. You're all lovely !:} Fiona, the meadows at the bottom of my garden are soggy enough ! The hot sunny weather that I keep hearing about must only be down south! You are lucky having such dramatic scenery but I'd miss the shops! Sarah, I'm glad that you smile but I'm trying to be serious :} It's not working is it !! :} Mia, I'm going to switch it off for a while (probably a few hours only! ] Robert, I know that I'll get going again, just a matter of waiting! Don't start me off on masking fluid. You know I like it !...

New or old, masking fluid or otherwise, this is a lovely piece. You have a lovely distinct style that is unifying, yet each piece has its individual appeal.

I do like you in your more colourful mood Louise but everything you do has a mark of quality about it, I know what a lot of time it takes to look and comment on others paintings and it is enjoyable but I am cutting down the time I spend because after loosing painting time to illness I am trying to catch up a bit, I'll still look in once a week so your not rid of me yet ! : )

Many thanks Seok and William. Nice to hear from you William. Hope you're better .

It is interesting that you say that this is an earlier painting as I can see how your paintings have evolved. Lots going on in this painting and lots of interesting colours, shapes and designs. I particularly like the pink road running over the mosaic bridge. Your design sense is so strong that you could paint anything and inject it with form and exciting shapes. P.S. Perhaps being a new grandmother has blown you away for the time being and has rather taken away your desire to paint for the time being. I couldn't concentrate on anything after my first grandson was born!

Congratulations Louise on your top tens for June - missed this one first time around, so glad I spotted it now, marvellous :)

No 2!!! Really well done, Louise. So well deserved - and two paintings in the top ten - that must tell you that are doing something right! Many congrats.

Many congratulations Louise, very well done. you really deserve it .

I want to add my congratulations to the above ones, Louise! You certainly deserve this!

watercolour 20 cm x 20 cm. Was going to call this Derbyshire stream. Thought perhaps Derbyshire was a bad idea and as for stream, it's more of a raging torrent! Rushing stream might be a better option! I confess to using large amounts of masking fluid ! Also, this isn't a new one, I can't get going, hopefully the doldrums will pass. Think my problem might be that I spend too much time here !
