Wonderful depth of tone in the shadow parts of the ivy and also super light filtering through. A great idea to have a change of subject as I think it keeps you fresh and challenged (and you seem to rise to more challenges than most, lol!) The painting looks very fresh on my screen and just what I need to see on this sweltering day.

Oh delightful Louise crisp and clear... Lovely.

Really, really lovely. Approaching abstraction in a subtle way, perhaps?

Such a simple subject but what a result!

Gorgeous greens on gorgeous leaves! Happy balance and composition. Well done Louise!

Lovely range of greens, nice fresh colour Louise, good to have a change of subject but with your accuracy and control that you have with your animal studies I'm sure you could tackle most subjects.

Thanks Thea, Sylvia, Amanda, Christine, Satu and Stephen. We have rampant ivy along our fences here, which seems to grow back twice as fast however much we cut it back. Thanks Stephen but animal studies? Not me, only painted next door's cat once. Well, it's early, coffee time?...lol

Fresh, fantastic use of tone and colour, and very well painted. I agree with keeping on having a go at different subjects as I think it helps you to grow as an artist and I think it keeps you loose. I think the beauty of watercolour is not to go over the paint with your brush strokes too much as the pigment starts to dullen. I think you understand this very technique well which always gives your paintings a fresh luminous spontaneous feel - which for me is what it's all about.

Thanks Gudrun and Joseph, comments much appreciated!

Sorry I haven't been around lately, really like this Louise, very vibrant!

A beautiful mixture of that dreaded colour green!

Love this design and your wonderful greens!

Thank you Debs, Val and Carole!

I like to do what I call plant painting now and again. It makes me look hard at the subject and I think it's good practice. Also, it's good to have a complete change of subject now and again!
