I love this eye catching painting and the story behind it !

Very nice piece. I can sense that people do enjoy their time...

Lionel, swept to page 9 now in two hours! 79 at the moment and still counting!!! Louise

My mistake, only 74 !!!

It's a very nice piece. The light, the reflection and the colors are all very well done.

I like this bright and colourful painting Lionel, but having to sift through so many 'In my opinion good ,bad and totally indifferent Multiple postings to find a gem is proving far to upsetting so I'm having a long holiday from the site, I will look in occasionly to see if things improve and to check on my favourite artists.

This is a masterly painting with all the components that make it interesting for the viewer. There is a great story being told here and the sense of anticipation of the people is evident and so well conveyed. The feeling of being at a considerable distance from the launch pad is also brilliantly conveyed and the water ad reflections are fantastic. I love the bright and clear colours and the lack of fussiness even although it is a busy scene. I have also noticed where you have placed the jetty in the painting - above the centre line which is a genius move. A lot of people might have placed it on the centre line or even slightly below. However, where you have placed it has allowed that lovely swathe of water and reflections that give such balance to the painting. I am totally ignorant of how acrylics work, being a committed watercolourist, but the highest compliment that I can give you is that at first I thought this was a watercolour!! Not sure if you will see that as a compliment, but it is meant sincerely as such. Glad you drew my attention to this painting - I do miss lots of them especially when we get multiple postings which affects the page a recently posted painting ends up on.

This is one of my very first paintings. I took it from a photograph in the Daily Telegraph in 2005. It is acrylics on canvas, about 26 by 16 inches overall and is on the wall in my apartment in Spain. The people with all their picnic stuff are awaiting the launch of the space shuttle. Nothing happened! There was a technical fault and the launch was cancelled. But I am sure they enjoyed the day out and their picnics. I loved the photograph and am still pleased with my picture. I still have the newspaper cutting in a protective plastic envelope tucked in behind the picture frame.
