You are very good as these vast vista paintings, always getting a wonderful sense of recession. This is a wonderful icy painting, with many tones of blue which give such interest. Cunning touch to have the little fence on the right leading you into the painting. As always, you water has a glassy perfection. Makes me want to go and ski there! NB I might have been tempted to put this painting in a pure white frame (I only use white frames from Ikea if I frame a painting as I need white to keep the impact of the colours) as it would really zing up the blues and reflect the polar whiteness of the snow on the mountains tops. Purely personal view of course and may not suit the decor of where you want to hang the painting. Also, perhaps you could scan the painting first before framing it and then you would get a flat image, although unframed of course.

Many thanks indeed, Thea, for your insightful comments. I painted this in Spain and, unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near an Ikea. Also, thanks for your in-depth comments of my NASA painting. They really are most helpful. I asked for your advice because within less than two hours it had got backed up to about page 7 behind multiple postings. Incidentally, I think that, in all honesty, I must give the credit for the positioning of the jetty above the water line to the photographer from whose work I made this painting.

You're not supposed to admit that, Lionel - just keep quiet and take all the credit for the placing of the jetty!!

Very nice one Lionel. Lovely shades of blue and the water is perfect. I'm afraid I cant give you any constructive comment because it's a good work ! As to the curved frames, I sometimes have the same problem and I don't know why. You should photo the picture before framing. If the painting is already framed, get closer so you don't get the frame in the photo. Sometimes the frames overpower the image here. They look good on the wall but are a little distracting in a photo. Even so, I've noticed on some of my photos, my image looks a little distorted. At the edges, my vertical lines and hoizontals are curved, but without the straight edges of a frame in the photo they're not so noticeable. It's a mystery to me!

Many thanks, Louise, for your kind and useful comments. Taking the photo before framing is a good idea. But because it is already framed, when I am next back in Spain, (I haven't decided when yet), I'll try taking another photo which excludes the frame. Thea points out that scanning the picture may be useful but I am not sure how to do that. Clearly I cannot do it on my standard A4 printer/scanner. I will look into it because I also want to find out how to make prints of some of my pictures ... or have them made.

Once again, it looks better in real life than in this photograph. How do I manage to get all the frames to look curved?? Another of life's mysteries.
