This is so dramatic and such a such a good monochrome painting Lionel.

Thi sis fabulously dramatic and full of drama. Your clouds are impressive.

'impressive' describes this well.

Oooo Lionel, now this is atmosphere, infact it ooooozes atmosphere. Wonderful cloud formations and refelctions.

Carole, Gudrun, Louise and Fiona - thank you all very much indeed for your comments. I am always so pleased to think that someone has taken the time and made the effort to express their opinion. Thanks again for your comments here and on my other recent postings.

Beautifully dramatic and excellent tonal work, Lionel.

Thanks, Seok. Glad you like it!

This could have been a contender in the paint in one colour challenge! Superb painting and I can't believe all the shades and tones your have achieved with just the one colour. Well done you!

Hello Lionel....thank you for taking the time to post a comment on my last effort, I really do appreciate you taking the trouble. I hope your absense from the site isn't due to yours or mary's health difficulties. I know that my own recent absense is all due to lack of time. I have so many paintings I want to paint and sketches that I've done to work up into paintings....so frustrating. I don't know which is the worse feeling, the one I've just described or having no motivation to paint. You are perhaps taking your time over your next masterpiece.....I do hope so! Anyway Lionel, thank you again and my very warmest wishes to you both.X

Hello again Lionel, thank you for your note it is lovely to hear from you....and I take the trouble, (which is no trouble) to write to you because I hope I can consider you a friend, even if it is a distant friend....or an 'e' friend! Lol. I'm sorry to hear you have been unwell, I was hoping that this wasn't the case and your absense was because you had been away or just plain busy. I know exactly what you're saying with regard to the quality of work on POL, I sometimes just don't know what to write, I don't have the knowledge or the vocabulary to do the work justice. I say what I feel and hope that it will be taken as sincere in it's simplicity. Paranoid?! I've been there as well!!! But Lionel, if you worry too much about whether your work is good enough to post, painters on-line would shut down through lack of patronage.....no one would post anything. Our own work is never good enough to please ourselves, but to the viewer.....well, they look at it through different eyes. Please pick up your brushes again, and paint because you enjoy it, or you hate it, or even if it's because there's nothing else to occupy your time at a given moment...but do it for you. My apologies for going on, I don't know why I have but you're not alone. My sincere best wishes to you both. X

Lost it in the foreground somewhat, but quite enjoyed doing it. It's taken so long I've forgotten what gave me the original idea! 10 X 12 inches, acrylic on canvas board.
